Description
This sandwich contains caramelized onions and Gruyere cheese on sourdough bread. You get the flavors of French onion soup in a grilled meal.

- 2 onions sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 slices sourdough bread
- 1.5 cups Gruyere cheese shredded
- 0.5 teaspoon thyme
- Salt and pepper
Instructions
- Melt butter and oil in a pan.
- Add onions and cook until brown.
- Add thyme salt and pepper.
- Butter one side of each bread slice.
- Place two slices butter side down in a skillet.
- Add onions and cheese to the bread.
- Top with remaining bread butter side up.
- Cook until bread is brown and cheese melts.

- Cook onions on low heat.
- Use a pan that holds heat well.
- Shred cheese for better melting.
