Father’s Day Cake Pop Idea: Sweet, Simple, and Dad‑Approved

Description

Celebrate Dad with a homemade cake pop idea that’s easy, tasty, and perfect for Father’s Day. Sweet, creamy, and unforgettable!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups chocolate cake mix (plus ¾ cup water, ½ cup oil, 2 eggs)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (for the center)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk (or more for consistency)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate candy melts (dark or milk)
  • Sprinkles, crushed nuts, or edible glitter for decoration
  • Wooden popsicle sticks (12‑piece pack)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cake. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Mix the cake batter according to the package directions, adding water, oil, and eggs. Pour into a greased 8‑inch pan and bake for 25–30 minutes. Let it cool completely on a wire rack.
  2. Crush the cake. Once cooled, break the cake into fine crumbs using a fork or a food processor. Transfer to a large bowl.
  3. Add chocolate chips. Stir in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  4. Mix the filling. In a separate bowl, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Pour over the cake crumbs and mix until the mixture holds together when pressed.
  5. Shape the pops. Pinch about 1‑inch balls of the mixture and insert a popsicle stick into each. Place on a parchment‑lined tray and chill in the fridge for 20 minutes to firm.
  6. Melt the coating. Melt the candy melts in a microwave or double boiler, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth.
  7. Coat the pops. Dip each chilled cake pop into the melted coating, tapping off excess. Immediately roll in sprinkles or nuts if desired.
  8. Set and serve. Return the coated pops to the parchment tray and let the chocolate harden at room temperature. Once set, they’re ready to serve or gift.

Notes

  • Use a high‑quality cake mix for richer flavor.
  • For a smoother center, press the cake crumbs into a silicone mold before adding the chocolate chips.
  • Keep the coating slightly warm; if it thickens, reheat gently.
  • Decorate while the coating is still tacky for a secure finish.
